(Correspondent Kang Cui) In order to broaden students' international horizons and cultivate innovative talents with global competence, from July 14 to 29, the School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology organized and selected 33 outstanding undergraduates to participate in the "Hanyang University’s Summer Campof 2019" in Seoul, South Korea, to study Korean courses with nearly 400 college students from the United States, Britain, South Africa, Malaysia and other countries so as to experience the local culture.

Learning courses, promoting professional skills.

In this summer camp, Hanyang University has offered five main courses such as Business, Culture Contents, Design, Architecture and Korean studies, and three elective courses such as Music, Dance and Beauty for students to choose, depending on the students' learning goals, interests and professional background. In class, the teacher taught the students professional knowledge such as financial management, architectural design, urban environment, internet media technology and industrial design, so as to increase students' knowledge reservation and improve their professional skills. At the same time, Hanyang University invited professional makeup artists and professional teachers of entertainment companies to explain Korean makeup, Korean dance, pop music and other professional knowledge to students, and guide students to experience by themselves to broaden their horizons.

At the end of the courses, students summarized what they have learned and worked with the group members from all over the world to produce Vlog, PPT and characteristic handicrafts to report their learning achievements, which immensely demonstrating the elegant demeanour of the students of Xidian University. All the 33 students of the visiting delegation graduated smoothly, and their defense works were well received good reviews. Among them, Huang Miaomiao, an undergraduate of grade 2017, won the Excellence Award for her graduation work.

Special activities, enjoying Korean culture.

In order to experience the local culture adequately, the students have learned how to wear hanbok and make rice cakes in class. At the same time, apart from courses learning, Hanyang University has organized a special performance to watch drawing show and other special various activities such as visiting the East Gate, Silkworm Rearing Room, Everland Resort, etc., to help students experience Korean food and culture deeply.

During the 15-day academic visit, the students have not only acquired professional knowledge, broadened their thinking and horizons, learned about Korean customs, and harvested international friendship, but also spread the students’ style of Xidian University and Chinese culture to more countries through this summer camp. The School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology will continue to promote the process of internationalization, strengthen the building of an international atmosphere, and train outstanding talents with international vision and global competence, for promoting the University to achieve the goal of "building a first-class university with distinctive characteristics" comprehensively.
