The 60th Anniversary Summit of Xidian University Relocation under the theme of “Carry Forward the Patriotism and Striving Spirit and Make Contributions to the New Era” was held in Yuanwanggu Gymnasium, South Campus on October 30. In the branch venue of the School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology, Lu Shuo,theSecretary of the Party Committee of the School,theDean Qin Yong, andthe Vice Dean Yang Rusen attended the academic theme activities of the School together with four experts and scholars from famous universities and scientific research institutes in China, as well as some teachers and students, in the Conference Hall 118 of Building G.

Professor Qin Yong, on behalf of the School, extended the warmest welcome to the four experts and scholars, and briefly introduced the personal information of Professor Liu Wensheng of Central South University, Professor Zhang Wenhua of Institute of New Energy of China Academy of Engineering Physics, Professor Ma Hua of Air Force Engineering University and Associate Professor Lv Yongjun of Beijing Institute of Technology. In the process of academic presentation, Liu Wensheng, Zhang Wenhua and Lv Yongjun respectively delivered academic reports entitled “A Study on Solidification Structure Regulation and Deformation Mechanism of Gold-Tin Eutectic Alloy”, “A Study on New Solar Materials and Cell Application”, “A Study on Relaxation Kinetics of Amorphous System”. They shared their latest research achievements and progress, and conducted in-depth discussions with teachers and students present, exchanged new ideas, theories and applications in the development of materials science, and jointly explored the latest development trend of materials science. At the seminar, all teachers and students were immersed in a strong academic atmosphere, with intense ideological collision and exchange. Professor Yang Rusen presided over the academic presentation.

Subsequently, four experts and scholars visited the scientific research experiment platform of the School. In the large-scale instrument test platform laboratory of the School, Associate Professor Tong Xiaomei, a young teacher of the School, introduced the construction of the scientific research platform and the parameters and performance of relevant instruments and equipment. During the visit, leaders of the School exchanged ideas with four experts and scholars on the planning and arrangement of higher level and quality scientific research platform construction focusing on the construction of public platform and the supplement and improvement of high-end instruments and equipment.

After the visit, experts and scholars attended the seminar, leaders and young teachers’ representatives of the School had a discussion in Conference Room 119 of Building G. During the discussion, leaders of the School exchanged views with scholars on the development of materials discipline and team building. Young teachers’ representatives such as Jia Qiaoying, Zhao Zhenhuan, Bai Xiaoxia, Lei Yimin and Wang Yuan introduced their personal information, research interests and research teams, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with four experts and scholars. When talking about the development of materials discipline in the School, Professor Liu Wensheng said that we should concentrate our efforts, expand the scale, strengthen the talent team, pay attention to the construction of large teams and platforms, to promote university cooperation, to make use of superior resources, and work hard at scientific research papers.

Finally, Lu Shuo expressed his gratitude to all the experts and scholars who came from afar to participate in the theme activities. He said that the arrival of experts made the activities more wonderful, and their suggestions for discipline construction and development of young teachers in the School have benefited a lot. Face-to-face communication also laid a good foundation for further cooperation. Many suggestions and new ideas proposed by experts and scholars for the work of the School from various aspects deeply moved everyone. The School would take this theme activity as an opportunity to further expand academic exchanges and scientific research cooperation, pursue mutual development and accelerate discipline construction.
