Nov 26, 2018 18:14

(Correspondent Xiaoxuan Duan) Professor Luo Feng from Madrid Institute for Advanced Studies (IMDEA) Nanociencia visited the School of Materials for academic exchange on November 23. At 3:00 p.m., Professor Luo Feng delivered an academic report entitled “Micro/Nano Fabrication and Ultra-Precision Manufacturing for Applications in Magnetic Hard Disk Storage, Magnetic Random-Access Memory (MRAM) and Magnetic Sensors” for teachers and students in Conference Hall 118, Building G, New Campus. This seminar was presided over by Professor Lei Tianmin. Some teachers and graduate students of the School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology participated in this seminar.

As one of the 25 Excellent Research Centers (Excellencia “Severo Ochoa”) in Spain, IMDEA Nanociencia climbed rapidly in Nature Index scientific research ranking in recent years, and ranked among the top 10 institutes in Spain and the top 3 institutes in Madrid. Professor Luo Feng worked at IMDEA Nanociencia as an assistant research professor in December 2010, obtained the capacity of tenured professor in December 2013, and promoted to senior research professor (tenured full professor) in June 2016. At present, he is the project leader of the multiple field coupler for surface and interface and micro-nano machining control. He has published 45 SCI papers and 20 papers on JCR Top journals (11 papers composed as first author or corresponding author). The total funds of his scientific research projects in progress are more than 1 million euro. As a technical expert in the field of ICT / energy / materials in Spain, he assisted the counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Spain in the technical risk assessment of the potential Spanish high-tech company acquisition project. His researches mainly focused on the realization of multi-functional materials and device arrays by developing micro-nano machining methodology under the micro-nano machining methods based on lithography and self-assembly and new functionalization induced by interface control; analysis on opto-electric-magnetic multi-field coupling effect and micro mechanism in materials and devices by means of electron beam or synchrotron radiation X-ray and other advanced characterization methods; key technologies of ultra-high density magnetic memory such as SSD and MRAM in the field of industrial applications.
