All talented people arrived in the fragrance of autumn orchid. From September 6 to 7, the School of Materials Sub-forum of the Fourth International Forum for Huashan Scholars was held successfully in Building G, South Campus. Six young talents from world-famous universities and scientific research institutes in Singapore, Germany, UK, Saudi Arabia and other areas and countries exchanged their ideas with teachers and students ofthe School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology and explored cooperation mode in the form of academic reports, topic discussions, visits and so on. All of them concluded intention employment agreements withthe School of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology .

On the afternoon of September 6, the Sub-forum was held in Room G119. More than 20 participants, including Lu Shuo,theSecretary of the Party Committee of the School, Cheng Yuan,theDeputy Secretary, Gao Baotong,the Vice Dean, Shi Jianzhang,the School Affairs Assistant, all department heads, scholars’ one-to-one liaison teachers and visiting young scholars, attended the Sub-forum that was presided over by Cheng Yuan.

Lu Shuo, on behalf of the School, extended the warmest welcome to all the young talents who came from afar. He said that theSchool would strive to create conditions and provide services. He also sincerely invited all young scholars to join theSchool and work together for mutual development.

Starting from the development history of theSchool,Vice Dean Gao Baotong briefly introduced the school-running philosophy and orientation, talent introduction, talent cultivation, discipline construction, and experimental platform. After that, department heads introduced the team structure, research direction and research achievements of departments in detail.

At the Sub-forum, all scholars deeply exchanged ideas with the school teachers from the aspects of scientific research experimental platform, research direction, introduction mode, cultivation and training and salary guarantee, in order to make the young scholars know more about the School.

Scholars also visited the large-scale instrument test platform of “Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology” and the scientific research laboratories of each department. The construction of the scientific research platform and the parameters and performance of relevant instruments and equipment were introduced detailed to them.

On the morning of September 7, five scholars delivered academic reports successively based on their research and combined with professional hot spots and advanced theories at the seminar presided over by Shi Jianzhang,the School Affairs Assistant. At the seminar, scholars described their latest research achievements, discussed and interacted with more than 100 teachers and students, exchanged new ideas, theories and applications in the development of materials discipline, and answered the related questions raised by teachers and students in a patient and meticulous way, presenting a wonderful academic feast. The seminar was held in enthusiastic atmosphere and smooth communication.

Visiting scholars said that they have deeply felt the School’s sincerity of seeking talents, the concept of meritocracy, atmosphere of respecting and valuing talents, and warm and thoughtful services at this Sub-forum. The successful Sub-forum provides a good platform for the School to attract outstanding young talents and promote exchanges and cooperation, as well as opportunities for teachers and students to exchange in frontier fields. The School will take this opportunity to attract more outstanding young scholars from home and abroad to work in the University by adhering to the purpose of “bringing in and sending out”, so as to inject new vitality into the sound and rapid development of the School.
